My Identity Beyond Motherhood: Comedy
So motherhood is an overall arch to both this blog and my instagram. Why? Well, it's one of those aspects that tends to transcend every facet of your identity, instead of jusst becoming yet another facet. I'm not a mom some of the time. I'm always a mom. Nothing can ever change that.
But as I'm getting to know more people within and through the instagram & blogging communities, I wanted to start a series that I'd like to bring back every so often where I talk a little bit more of who I am and what I like beyond motherhood.
Probably one of my biggest passions is comedy. I have always had an amazing sense of humor, or so I like to think. I love watching comedy. From the Nickelodeon specials in the 90s, to now, here are some of my all time favorite comedic television shows:
-All That. The huge husk of corn they carried around everywhere will always stick with me
-SNL. Of course. Some character favorites- The Californians. The Church Lady. Basically any character of Kristen Wiigs. Stefan. Drunk girl at a party. Cheerleaders.
-The Office- I have watched the entire series literally 8 times, going on 9 now.
-Parks and Rec. If only we could all be as good of a person as Leslie Knope.
-The IT Crowd.
I could go on but that's go for now.
My favorite stand up comedians:
-Some time Louis CK
My favorite comedy movies:
-What About Bob
-Dumb and Dumber
So I love watching comedy in general. Ry & I both do. Sometimes we disagree on what's funny, but I love that we can just laugh and laugh and laugh together. But I also love performing comedy. I've been in a couple of sketch troupes.
When we were dating, Ry & I did a sketch together called Premarital. I'll embed it here:
When I was in high school and early college I wanted to be on SNL. Obviously, I chose a different path, but I still would love to join an improv group or write more sketch in my free time.
So maybe you knew this about me. Maybe you didn't. But I'm a mom who likes the laughs, and I liked the laughs before I was a mom too.
