February: Couch to 5k
Having officially crushed the Whole30 last month, I knew it was time to start something new.
Along with sweets, I love laying down. I love laying in my bed under my comfy sheets. I love laying on the couch and watching a great show. I love not working out. The only part of my pregnancy with my twins that was easy was when I was told to go easy on the workouts, and I *truly* took that to heart.
I haven't worked out in over a year. At all. I've been nervous to start working out again as I have diastasis recti from the pregnancy and I'm terrified of making it worse. So I'm starting with cardio, which for most people doesn't even count as working out. But when you're me it does! So here we go!
I will be completing the Couch to 5K in the four weeks of February. It's typically a ten week program but I'm following a tighter schedule. I'm starting the program today and I'll complete it February 28th. I will be competing in my first ever 5k run on the following Saturday, March 4th. I am so excited!
It really is great timing as Clairvaux's godmother (Sr. Mary Fidelis)' order is having a 5k fundraising event to build a new monastery that weekend. I am excited to run for such a great cause. I started a fundraising page, so if you feel like supporting me and donating, please do! Even if it is only $1 every little bit counts. You can do so here.
My schedule will consist of running every other day. Each day I will do alternating sets of walking and running, while slowly growing the running time longer and the walking time shorter until I can fully run a 5k no problem!
My hope is to grow in my ability to endure hardships, to be fortitudinous amongst the woes of my everyday life and to build up stamina to be physically healthy.
Let's see how this goes! Now to work on my form....
